Welcome to the MAAAGC Website.
African Americans have a rich heritage, full of endlessly fascinating individuals and stories to discover
and share with future generations. Though challenging, pursuing the details of your own African American
ancestors—their identities, joys, struggles, courage, imperfections, endurance, and triumphs—will endear
them to you and become the rewarding, affirming endeavor of a lifetime. Take advantage of an excellent
upcoming opportunity to delve deeper into your family’s legacy.
On Saturday, April 19th, 2008, nationally known specialists will gather to convey the wealth of resources
and techniques available for African American genealogical research. Sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints (LDS), the Mid-Atlantic African American Genealogy Conference (MAAAGC) will feature
notable figures and key topics in African American genealogy:
Registration begins at 9:00 A.M. and the exhibit hall will close at 4:00 P.M. A light lunch, courtesy
of Chick-fil-A will be provided at noon. There is a $10 registration fee, attendees are asked to register
online and then bring their registration fee with them the day of the conference. A portion of the proceeds
will be donated to our non-profit co-sponsors.
The conference will be held at The Cherry Hill Family History Center, 252 E. Evesham Road, Cherry Hill,
NJ 08003. For more information on the History Center go to www.cherryhillstake.org/fhc
